Takeaways.

Three meaningful learnings from the entire process:
  • Validating biases: I formulated imaginary personas and scenarios for each visual direction; While my personas may hold some truth to them, my assumptions should be tested against a group for whom they were meant. Doing so will accurately validate my designs.

  • Identifying user needs: It was necessary to understand why, when, and how people listen to music—what activities and actions are going on when listening to music? Likewise, considering how users will interact with icons and their responses to specific colors? Doing so helps create a design that is target-specific.

  • Relatability: The study’s findings showed that users reacted poorly to unrecognizable icons. Design content became clear when iconography was cohesive and on a larger scale.
